SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 14 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

ON THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE SARAH FOLSOM

The Honorable Sarah Folsom passed away on June 11, 1969, in Denver, Colorado.

Mrs. Folsom was born in Notasulga, Alabama, on October 22, 1915. She was educated in Alabama, receiving a bachelor's degree from Judson College and a master's degree from Auburn University. She later received honorary doctorate degrees from those schools.

Mrs. Folsom began her career in education as a teacher in Ala­ bama schools in 1936. She moved to Arizona in 1943 and taught school in Yavapai County. In 1952, the residents of Yavapai County elected Mrs. Folsom County Superintendent of Schools. She was reelected and served in that position until 1964.

In 1964, the citizens of Arizona elected Mrs. Folsom to the post of Superintendent of Public Instruction, the highest education posi­ tion in the state. She was reelected in 1966 and 1968.

As a teacher and superintendent, Mrs. Folsom was a tireless champion of education, serving always with distinction and honor. She was selected as Methodist Woman of the Year in 1960, and is listed in Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in America. She was a member of the National and Arizona Education Associations and other educational organizations.

Therefore

Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Arizona, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the Members of the Legislature sincerely regret the passing of the Honorable Sarah Folsom and do, therefore, extend sympathy and condolences to the members of her family.
