Dear Chief:
Please be advised that effective today, June 30, 2015, I hereby retire from office as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States under the provisions of 28 U.S.C. § 371(a), having attained the age and met the service requirements of subsection (c) of that section. I understand that, upon my retirement, I will receive, during the remainder of my lifetime, an annuity equal to the salary I was receiving at the time of retirement.
It has been an extraordinary privilege to serve our country as a Supreme Court Justice, and to have shared the last year of my time on the high court with you.
